Pracah Solution Limited
Resumen del proyecto
Pracah Solution Limited is a waste management and garbage collection company based in Thika, Kiambu County. Its operations are largely in Kiambu County but also in the outskirts, such as Kenol (Muranga). The company is committed to sustainable waste management and seeks to gradually align its operations with the national government’s vision of transitioning from a linear waste management system to a circular economy. In a bid to enhance its efficiency, improve service delivery, and increase sustainability, Pracah Solution sought to develop a Waste Collection Optimization System (WCOS) in 2023, a project that was awarded to our company.
According to the Terms of Reference, the WCOS was to serve as a comprehensive tool for streamlining operations, leveraging recyclable waste to increase revenue, reducing costs through better route planning, and enhancing data-driven decision-making in waste collection and management
Project Scope
The objective of the two phases of the project was to design, develop, and implement a software system that would:
- Optimize Waste Collection Operations by minimizing collection inefficiencies.
- Enable tracking of waste types and incentivize segregation by clients to reduce collection time per client
- Incentivize to provide more recyclable waste as a way of increasing revenue for the company through sales to recyclers.
- Enable Data-Driven Decision-Making by providing insights through detailed reporting on waste collection metrics and trends.
Deliverables
- Conducted a thorough user requirements gathering that were used to produce
- technical specifications.
- Developed and designed a standalone software application that has the functionalities of waste tracking and data management, predictive analytics for collection schedules and volumes, route optimization for waste collection fleets, reporting capabilities, and an intuitive front-end platform for field operators to collect data (with offline capabilities)
- We implemented the project using a modular architecture to allow future enhancements, including IoT sensor integration (e.g., ultrasonic level sensors, GSM modules) and cloud-based storage.
- Provided training for staff to operate and maintain the system effectively.
- Conducted rigorous testing to ensure system reliability and usability.
- Delivered post-deployment support and a roadmap for future updates and scalability
- February 2024 Upgrade – Introduced a feature to incentivize clients with high recyclable waste volumes and those doing waste segregation before collection.
