LAZINESS WILL KILL YOU

It is unbiblical and criminal to sit on your couch and whine you have no job or capital. 2nd Thessalonians 10: “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat”. Surely, you can make something with your hands and resell it at a higher cost. From natural and organic goods such as lotions, soaps, candles, yogurt, sausages, cakes and granola to homemade jewelry and wooden toys for kids to more complex products such as websites

Reseller Business

You can resell existing ready-made products. Several business owners have grown large businesses just by reselling products. I was mesmerized by the number of land-cruisers and range-rovers packed in a hotel where I was speaking to Keroche Distributors. Businessmen who chose to distribute existing products.

Online distributorship

Did you know you can be an online distributor? Set up an online store and partner with drop-shipping companies that will do the entire order fulfillment for you. Get yourself a copy of, The Four Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss, and learn more about online e-commerce and drop-shipping.

Sell Services

No start-up capital? No problem. Sell your services. That’s exactly how I began. You don’t have to sell physical products. Depending on your background and interests, package yourself as the preferred service provider of choice in your target market. From accounting, architectural, research, training, human resources, branding, interior design, landscaping, counseling, marketing etc., you can start with what you have and who you are and demand your market space. You will need a branding plan to make sure your name and company gets in front of the people who may need your service. Respect your business. Develop a website to showcase your work, list your experience, and rigorously blog and brag about your services to draw customers near. I did it, you can do it! Say ‘NO’ to mental and physical laziness and start where you are.

Odd Jobs

No much education? No excuse. Start babysitting, lawn mowing, cleaning services and such like services in gated communities or for corporate organizations. Business levels the ground for those with some papers and those with lots of academic papers. The ground is leveled by guts, resilience, determination and a strong will to succeed.

Writing

Are you good in writing? Start by being a freelance writer for a magazine, newspaper or scripts for actors. Help authors and publishers in editorials. Take good pictures for a national wide newspaper and re-invent yourself as a photojournalist.

Tour Guiding

Or appoint yourself a tour guide for foreigners visiting Kenya. Study about our wildlife, rivers, vegetation and the grandeur of the land. Enroll in a foreign language and stand out among tour guides or at least become a language translator. Who knows you might eventually be a great investor in tourism?

Of prime importance, be passionate about what you do. Do it with a consuming zeal. Do it like there’s no tomorrow. Enjoy it to your bone marrow. Anything legal and moral but being idle. Do something!
