    4 Steps For getting a Huduma Namba

    The Kenyan government has started the Huduma Namba National Identity Management System (NIIMS) program. The NIIMS is a platform for the registering and keeping records of Kenyan Citizens and foreigners who are in the country. It will create a master population register that will be used as a single source of identity of a person in Kenya. The registration process is done offline(physically ) while the data is stored online and can be accessed by different government departments that will include NRB, CRD, Refugees Affairs, Immigration, NEMIS, NSSF, NHIF, IEBC, KNBS, NTS among others.

    Requirements of Registering for Huduma Namba

    The following data will be collected when registering in the NIIMS for the Huduma Namba

    • Your Biodata
    • Your Nationality (Citizen, Foreigner, Dual Citizen)
    • Parent/ guardian information
    • Your Place of birth
    • Your Marital status(you can register up to five spouses)
    • Employment status
    • Agricultural activities
    • Biometric details
    • Your Photo
    • Education details
    • Disability

    Registration Process

    To register for a Huduma Namba, you are needed to carry your original copies of birth certificate, National Identification Card, Driving License and KRA pin at the station. 

    First step

    You are required to fill information in a hard copy that will contain your bio data, biometrics and your personal photos.

    Second Step

    The data is then transferred to a registration kit that will be used to store data locally.

    Third Step

    The information is then uploaded in the server, probably at the end of the day.

    Fourth Step

    The information is then submitted to the Huduma Namba Server and UPI is generated. The information is then shared with the different government departments.

    Where do you register for the Huduma Number?

    You can register and get a Huduma Number in the nearest sub-chief or sub-county office.  In Nairobi CBD, you can register in your nearest Huduma center.
